Mergex Animation
This animation demonstrates the power of the Mergex system by simulating a driver's travel on a two-lane highway, upstream of a work zone, with and without the Mergex system in operation. The skycam view is captured on the left edge of the screen with the subject car identified by the yellow arrow. The speedometer on the left of the dashboard displays your real time speed. You will notice that your merging speed is much higher with the Mergex system in operation. The viewer is able to run two scenarios, one with Mergex and one without Mergex by toggling the square red button at the center of the dashboard. The Travel Time (in seconds) and Flow Rate (vehicles per hour) are calculated between two virtual markers at each end of the animated highway. The improvements in Travel Time and Flow Rate are then displayed as percentages.
The "Without Mergex" animation was based on data obtained from the literature, and a typical mix of passenger cars, pickup trucks and tractor-trailers was assumed.
